18 Degrees is celebrating the fantastic news that not one, but two, of our outstanding projects have been shortlisted for best projects of the year in the prestigious Lighting Design Awards. The awards, known fondly as the LDAs, recognise the standout projects that represent the best of the lighting industry across a range of sectors.

In the Leisure Project of the Year category we were delighted to see our work on the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton, make the shortlist. We’re immensely proud of this project, where we were the sole lighting designers for the £7.5million refurbishment to mark the theatre’s 90th year in style.

The lighting was a crucial element of the renovation, not only to bring the theatre forward in terms of technological advancements, but to complement the new interior look and feel, while creating a comfortable environment for theatre goers. The results were stunning so it’s wonderful to see this in the running for a much-coveted LDA.

Over in the Heritage Project of the Year, our work at the International Presbyterian Church in Ealing has scooped a spot on the shortlist. Our design at the church was focused on enhancing the detailing of the architecture and the wealth of materials within the building.

The 18 Degrees team is already looking forward to the awards evening, which is taking place in London on 16 May, where we’ll find out if we’re taking home a trophy (or two!).
